Hoy, 21 de septiembre es el día Mundial del Alzheimer, que este año la Confederación Española de Alzheimer ha promocionado con el lema: “Sigo siendo yo”.
El Alzheimer en una enfermedad cerebral que causa problemas con la memoria, la forma de pensar y el carácter o la manera de comportarse. En este día tan señalado Asistenzia quiere compartir la lista que ha creado la «Alzheimer´s Association» sobre las 10 señales de advertencia del Alzheimer:
1.- Cambios de memoria que dificultan la vida cotidiana.
2.- Dificultad para planificar o resolver problemas.
3.- Dificultad para desempeñar tareas habituales en la casa, en el trabajo o en su tiempo libre.
4.- Desorientación de tiempo o lugar
5.- Dificultad para comprender imágenes visuales y cómo objetos se relacionan el uno al otro en el ambiente.
6.- Nuevos problemas con el uso de las palabras en el habla o lo escrito.
7.- Colocación de objetos fuera del lugar y la falta de habilidad para retrasar sus pasos.
8.- Disminución o falta de buen juicio.
9.- Pérdida de iniciativa para tomar parte en el trabajo o en las actividades sociales.
10.- Cambios en el humor o la personalidad.
No hay que confundir estas señales con los cambios típicos de la edad, para más información se puede consultar la lista detallada y ante cualquier duda consultar a un especialista.

OS imagináis por un momento que no recordáis vuestro nombre o que estáis en la calle sin ser capaces de recordar donde está vuestra casa, pues así es como se puede sentir una persona con demencia, ya que las emociones perduran más que los recuerdos. No podemos experimentar esas sensaciones, pero lo que sí sabemos es como se siente un cuidador y lo difícil que es lidiar con ese tipo de situaciones a diario.
Según la «Alzheimer´s Association» del 30 al 40% de los cuidadores de personas con demencia sufre depresión y el 44% sufre ansiedad. Por esos motivos, queremos recalcar la importancia de pedir ayuda a tiempo para evitar el “Síndrome del cuidador”.
El estado anímico del cuidador repercute diariamente en el cuidado que se les da a las personas con Alzheimer, por eso Asistenzia propone estos consejos:
- Reconocer las señales de estrés, cansancio.
- Mantenerse motivado.
- Solicitar ayuda a familiares.
- Tomarse al mínimo un día a la semana de descanso, manteniendo contacto con amigos o familiares.
- Hacer uso de centros de día, residencias o ayuda domiciliaria.
- Solicitar ayudas sociales y contactar con profesionales que puedan informarnos.
Una de las grandes necesidades que tienen los cuidadores es simplemente ser escuchados o poder hablar con otras personas en su misma a situación. Por eso mismo, con motivo de este día muchas entidades y asociaciones realizan actos y actividades destinadas a las personas con Alzheimer y sus familiares.
